LONDON NORTH – OCT 2019

The Rough Runner Challenge

Rough Runner is an obstacle course challenge, combining distance running with a variety of obstacles along the way, each inspired by game shows such as Total Wipeout, Takeshi’s Castle, Gladiators, and Fun House. Expect sweeper arms, gym rings, big balls and yes, The Travelator.

We’ll have a 5km route with 10 obstacles and a 10km route with 15 obstacles if you’re up for the toughest challenge. Best of all, everyone who joins us for the game show-inspired journey will cross the Travelator at the finish line. So you can consider that particular childhood dream fulfilled.

Finsbury Park – we’re coming back.

Rough Runner is back in the city, returning to Finsbury Park, where we’ll be hosting our 5km and 10km obstacle routes within spitting distance of the Tube.

It’s no easy feat, but we manage to bring a full range of massive, awesome obstacles onto a public common and stage the biggest urban obstacle event in the country. If you’re a Londoner, you really don’t want to miss this…

A few minutes from Finsbury Park and Manor House stations – our most accessible location by far for public transport!

100,000 Roughians to date have had the pleasure. To see why, take a look at some reviews below or read all of them HERE.

ABOUT.

Rough Runner’s back in London!

5,000 Roughians nailed the Travelator last year at Finsbury, so we're back to give another packed-out crowd the chance. So whether you’re new to Rough Runner or have been before, this is your only chance to take on our epic obstacles in the heart of the city. We know of no other event which brings a range of obstacles so massive, so ambitious, and so much fun into the centre of the capital. We’ll be bringing the legendary Travelator with us to the doorstep of millions of Londoners, and giving you the opportunity to bring your favourite TV game show memories into reality.

Inspired by TV game shows like Total Wipeout, Gladiators, Takeshi’s Castle and Ninja Warrior, this is the only event that will give you the chance to take on a load of epic obstacles that you’ve only ever seen on screen and always wanted to try.

If you’ve always fancied taking part in one of our events, but getting there has been too much of a task, then this is the one for you.

If you want to see the rest of the obstacles you and the rest of your team will be up against, have a gander: https://roughrunner.com/obstacles/

Did we mention we have The Travelator?

Do it now. Regret it never.

WHAT'S INCLUDED.

  • There is free access to the event for all spectators.
  • We want to encourage our Roughians to bring their friends and families to see them take on The Travelator at the finish line, and don't feel the need to charge for a ticket just to enjoy the spectacle!
  • Free bag drop service.
  • You'll also get a free medal.
  • Free Roughian wristband.

PARKING

We don't offer car parking at our Finsbury event, as there are 2 overground and 2 underground stations within a stones throw from the event village.

And there is simply not enough space! So don't drive!

It’ll be tricky to find parking nearby, it’ll probably be expensive, and who wants to navigate weekend traffic in London anyway?

Hence we don't recommend driving - Finsbury Park is so easily accessible by the overground, underground and bus network!

If you do need to drive, then you'll simply have to find a parking meter or car park nearby.

So check out the section on Getting There below, and you'll see where to go and what to do!

DETAILS

  • If you want to find out what's included in the price, just click on the "What's Included" tab.
  • Start times will be from around 9am through to approx 3pm, and we will advise you of your start time about 7 - 10 days prior to the event date.
  • Please arrive on site around 1 hour prior to your start time, to get yourself registered, set up and ready to run!
  • For most, driving will be the best means of getting there, so get some buddies together and road trip it!
Things you'll need to bring:

1. A print out of your ticket, a signed waiver (here), and photo ID. You can’t race without!

2. Cash for food and drinks on site - card payment machines outdoors can be temperamental.

3. Suitable clothing. This is up to you, but we'd suggest a warm change of clothes for after the event and gloves to use during (for all those nets and ropes). You will get muddy, and so will your trainers, so don't wear anything you are particularly precious about!

Otherwise just check back here in the run up to the event, or feel free to drop us a line here.

Best thing - check out on Google maps where the event is.

Their maps are great, and provide awesome directions and even tell you how long it'll take you to get there from where you are! So you don't need to be late! But still give yourself time in case there's an accident or something you or Google is not in control of!

By train, your best bet is Finsbury Park, Haringey or Haringey Green Lanes, which are each from 2-5 mins walk.

Finsbury Park or Manor House underground stations are even closer - both about a 2 minute walk.

By bus, there are about a dozen routes that will put you within throwing distance of the Park, so your best bet is to check the tfl.gov.uk website and find the best for you.

Don't forget to check transport times beforehand in case of a strike or disruption.

Bring the kids to Roughian Rascals!

Roughian Rascals is also back in 2019, but bigger and better, with wet obstacles for the kids! This is a 1 mile course designed specifically for adventure-seeking kids from 7 to 12 years old.

The course will give kids the chance to get wet, possibly a little muddy (weather dependent!), and experience some unique, cool and fun obstacles – in a safe and managed environment.

There will be multiple time slots and we can give you flexibility on your wave to make sure everyone can run!

If you’re interested in entering kids into Roughian Rascals, either just add their tickets when you’re booking yours, or have a look at our info page here.
