Fundraising

Charity Places

So you want to raise money for charity!

Congratulations – You’re an awesome human being! We have a bunch of charities we work with, but if there’s another cause that’s close to your heart then that’s easy to do too. Take a look at our Chosen Charities, and when you’re ready to fundraise for them, hit the button and you’ll be taken off to create a fundraising page and support these amazing causes.

If there’s another charity you’d rather raise for, then just head to the links at the bottom of the page, select which event you’re doing and you can start raising for anyone you like!

THE STROKE ASSOCIATION

We believe in life after stroke. That’s why we campaign to improve stroke care and support people to make the best possible recovery. It’s why we fund research into new treatments and ways to prevent stroke. We are a charity, and rely on your support to change lives and prevent stroke.

BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION

British Heart Foundation

3,000 lives are lost every week in the UK to heart and circulatory disease, meaning hundreds of families are torn apart by it each day. Coronary heart disease is the UK’s single biggest killer and BHF are leading the fight against it. Our pioneering research has helped to transform the lives of people living with heart and circulatory conditions.

GLOBAL’S MAKE SOME NOISE

Global’s Make Some Noise supports brilliant, small charities across the UK, which help youngsters and their families living with illness, disability or lack of opportunity.

These charities struggle to get heard, so, we unite some the biggest radio stations in the UK – Heart, Capital, Capital XTRA, Classic FM, Smooth, LBC, Radio X and Gold – to give them a voice and raise money to support their amazing work.

THE CHRISTIE

The Christie charity provides enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds for more than 40,000 cancer patients treated at The Christie every year. Your support can help us to fund life-changing and potentially life-saving projects that will benefit cancer patients both now and in the future.

If you have another charity you’d like to raise for and already have your Rough Runner ticket, then just select the event you’re running below, choose the charity you’d like to help support, and you’ll have a JustGiving page made in a couple of clicks.

Once you’ve done that, try these quick steps to help reach your fundraising goal:

  • Set a target that’s slightly higher than you think you’ll get – people are more generous than you might imagine!
  • Share your page on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and anywhere else you’re active on social media.
  • Don’t forget to go oldschool! Put up a poster or two at work, in your gym or anywhere else you know people.
  • Update your page regularly with your progress – not just how close to your fundraising target, but things like your training, nutrition plans, new work outs, or even videos of obstacles that you’re gearing up to take on!
  • Get other people to join you – if they’re not raising money themselves, you can do it as a team and do a lot more for your charity!

That’s it, assuming you’ve got a ticket – if not click the event listings button at the bottom and book your spot.

Good luck Roughian fundraisers – every little bit you do will help someone, somewhere, who will really appreciate your effort. So get out there and do what you can!
