Rascals info

It won’t be long before your Rascal joins us on a brand new challenge, built especially for kids but with the Rough Runner ethos at its heart!

They’ll have a great day on our obstacles, with a bunch of other pint-sized Roughians all taking on the course together.

But before that, some important info to make sure your Rascals are fully prepared for this epic experience.

  1. If you want to be kept up to date about this specific event, please join your event on Facebook here. (click on the picture of the event and then go ahead and click the + Going) button
  2. Turn up an hour before your start time. All Rascals should start in their respective waves and give ample time to find the venue, and register before running. There is a warm up and short briefing before the run starts so please be on time! There are only one or two Rascal waves on the day so if you miss the last one, your child will miss out!
  3. Please check the event page for location details. There are detailed instructions about arriving at the event, so don’t just rely on Sat Nav! As you approach the venue you will see yellow AA road signs so please follow those.
  4. THINGS YOU MUST BRING – you won’t be allowed to race without them:
    1. Your child’s ticket (with the QR Code visible)
    2. Signed waiver (you can download the ROUGHIAN RASCALS EVENT WAIVER here)
    3. Photo ID (of the accompanying adult)
  5. Wear appropriate gear for the weather and conditions, including sun screen on hot days!
  6. Spikes on shoes WILL NOT BE ALLOWED. We have obstacles that spikes can cause damage to and we don’t want to take any risks. Shoes will be checked before you race. Note that spikes also include football boots with studs. Rascals may need to take their shoes off to do one or two obstacles, which they can pick up after the obstacle.
  7. Make sure your kids don’t wear any jewellery – rings, necklaces, watches, ear rings etc – as they can get caught on obstacles and be damaged or actually hurt them.
  8. Once your child is registered, please head to the dome tent 10 minutes before their wave, where the Rascals will be given a briefing about the course and then a pre-run warm up. Listen out for announcements too!
  9. A parent or guardian will need to be responsible for each child on the course. You’ll be able to spectate from close by, and usually run the course with them. If you do wish to accompany them, you must respect the staff and marshals’ instructions at all times.

  1. Bring a change of clothes for your Rascal, just in case the conditions get wet or muddy.
  2. Bags and belongings can be kept in our main Bag Drop tent. We won’t be letting kids in though, so you’ll need to take responsibility for their stuff. We can’t be help responsible for loss or damage, so please avoid leaving valuables in their bags.
  3. Just like a gym, our changing rooms aren’t just for kids. If they do want to get changed, we recommend you accompany them for safeguarding purposes.
  4. Unlike other events, we don’t charge charge spectators, so don’t worry about getting a ticket for yourself. The only cost you might need to think about is parking, which is £8 paid in cash on the day.
  5. Don’t worry if your Rascal can’t swim! There won’t be any need to swim on the course.
  6. If your child has friends that want to join in, they are welcome to get a ticket on the day. They will need to be supervised by a parent/guardian too.
  7. Any obstacle that a Rascal isn’t keen on can be skipped, and we don’t do penalties. So if yours is nervous about any of it, they will be encouraged along but won’t be made to do anything they don’t want to!
  8. There are 8-10 obstacles on the course, which is set over roughly a mile (depending on the venue). They will be accompanied by our marshals all the way round as a group. It’s not a race!

There’s just one wave each day for the Rascals event, usually in the afternoon between 1pm and 3pm. Specific times are sent out around 7-10 days before the event.

If you are running the main course and the timing doesn’t work with your Rascal’s wave, then you can change to another wave which suits better – just chat to Help Desk on the day. If you do need to swap, your wave time won’t be changed on the published list so don’t worry about that!

Can I get a refund if my child cannot or chooses not to participate?

Unfortunately we cannot offer refunds, deferrals or substitutions on Rascals tickets.
